Booligal Sheep Races

By wattsy | October 8, 2007

This Saturday the 13th of October marks the 10th anniversary of the Booligal Sheep Races, Booligal is a small town with a population of just under 30 people, The township has two at least two claims to fame, one is being mentioned in the Banjo Paterson poem “Hay and Hell and Booligal” and the other is beingĀ one of the few places in Australia where they have attempted the seemingly impossible task of racing sheep. Booilgal is located on the Cobb Highway, north of Hay in the western region of NSW.
