Circular Quay
Circular Quay is a great place to people watch, there are buskers and performers and all sorts of interesting sights. Circular Quay is home to the City’s ferry fleet and many of the tourist watercraft. For only a few dollars you can get out on Sydney Harbor for some of the best views of the City, Harbor Bridge and Sydney Opera House.
A favorite destination is Manly which is a 30 minute ferry cruise towards the heads or a 15 minute cruise on the jet powered cat. Plenty of other shorter ferry rides are also available, the ferrys are just an important part of Sydney’s transport system as Trams are to Melbourne’s. If you want to head to Darling Harbour from Circular Quay the best way is by ferry, its quick and cheap and its a great view of the bay as you pass under the bridge.
No trip to Sydney would not be complete without a short walk from Circular Quay to the world famous Sydney Opera House which stands proudly at the tip of Bennelong Point. The steps of the Opera House would be the best photo opportunity in Sydney, with sweeping views of the City and the Bridge. Tours are available to see inside this amazing work of art and there are a host of great shows always available to suit every taste.
The Cahill Expressway is probably Sydney’s most unloved piece of architecture. Although this elevated road and rail line divides the city from the waterfront it does have one thing going for it, take the lift to the top just to the east of Circular Quay Station to get a good free elevated view of area.
