Weekly markets include Mindil Beach Sunset Markets, Parap, Nightcliff and Rapid Creek markets. Some of these markets run during the dry season only.

The Darwin Festival

The Darwin Festival is an annual festival of comedy, dance, theatre, music, film and visual art and the NT Indigenous Music Awards. Much of the festival is held in the botanic gardens, with various events also staged around the city. The festival generally runs during the peak tourist season in August.

The Darwin Beer Can Regatta

The Beer Can Regatta is a fun annual festival held on Mindil Beach, generally during the peak dry season around July and August. Participants create boats out of beer cans that compete against each other in a series of races. Other events include tug of wars and thong (flip flop) throwing.

Greek Glenti

Held at Darwin’s Bicentennial Park, the Greek Glenty is a vibrant and fun festival where the Greek community shares their culture, food, dance and music with locals and tourist. The festival is generally held in July and has been held annually since 1988.

India @ Mindil

Similar to the Greek Glenti, India @ Mindil is an Indian festival on Mindil Beach where you can experience the culture music and food of India. India @ Mindil is generally held in late June.

The Darwin Cup

The Darwin Cup is held on Darwin on Fannie Bay racecourse. With Darwin being so far away from horse racing mad cities of Sydney and Melbourne, the local really embrace the opportunity to get in their finery and experience the Cup atmosphere. The Darwin Cup Carnival runs from July to August and comprises 6 races prior to the Darwin Cap.
