The Livid Festival brings together some of the biggest Alternative music names for a huge show held at the Brisbane Showgrounds. Usually held in September, the show attracts thousands moshing away in the sun to some hot bands.

The Brisbane River Festival

Held in September, the Brisbane River festival is a celebration of the importance of the beautiful Brisbane River. There’s are a wealth of activities for the whole family along the stretch of this mighty river. There’s music, food and lots of children’s activities, and many of the river businesses, bars, cafés and restaurants join in on the festivities. A spectacular fireworks display is one of the more popular attractions of the festival.

The Royal Brisbane Show

August is Showtime in Brisbane, The Royal Queensland Show, or ‘Ekka’ as the locals call it, is held at the Brisbane Showgrounds. There is fun for everyone, with a huge range of agricultural displays and some fine Queensland animals, including the world-famous Beef. The kids will love the huge Show bag Pavilion and Side Show Alley. The show features all the rides, performances and fun you would expect from a big city fair.

Queensland Day

Held in early June, Queensland Day is a public holiday to celebrate Queensland. This tradition has been carried on from 1881. It is also the day the Governor announces the Queenslander of the Year. There are loads of activities around the city, and state on this day including, dinners, street parties, fashion parades and many Children’s events in the city parks.

Brisbane Festival

Usually held in late September or early October, the Brisbane Festival brings together some of the largest arts festival in Brisbane. Basking in the warm Spring sun, arts including music, drama, dance, visual and performance art which many are large-scale activities. Highlights of the event include the Out of the Box Festival for children and the Brisbane Writer’s festival.
