Pako Festa
Every February Pakington Street comes alive to the sound, taste and sights of multiculturalism. This huge festival includes a street parade followed by multicultural entertainment, food stalls, art exhibitions, dance and fun for the whole family. The dozens nations that make up the Geelong community all come together and celebrate this fantastic festival.
Skandia Geelong Week - Australia Day Festivities
The Royal Geelong Yacht Club is host to one of the worlds great Yachting festivals. In-fact it is one of Australia’s oldest sporting event dating back to 1844. The festival includes regattas, and fun for all on the beautiful Geelong foreshore, with carnivals, bands, markets, food and fun for all ages. Topping off with the spectacular KRock Sky show fireworks spectacular.
New Year on the Waterfront
The only place to be on New Years Eve is to celebrate on Geelong’s magnificent waterfront. A crowd of nearly 4000 turn up to enjoy some of Australia’s hottest musicians, eat fine food and celebrate the passing of another year with a few beverages. The 2004 event featured Endorphin and ARIA award winning Alex Lloyd followed by spectacular fireworks at midnight.
The Australian International Air show
Avalon Airport is home to one of the World’s great air shows. Attracting hundreds of thousands of spectators and hundreds of aircraft ranging from ultra lights to the most high tech military aircraft the show is the biggest event in the region. Held every second year in Feb / March ( in odd years) the show is not to be missed.
The Bells Beach Classic
Every Easter the best surfers from around the world flock to Bell’s Beach to surf in the Bells Easter Classic. Bells Beach is about half an hours drive out of Geelong along the Surf Coast Highway just out of the Surfing Mecca town of Torquay. The gateway to the Great Ocean Road.
